In this post, Google explains:

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we’re already talking to partners about the project, and we’ll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.

Adrian Kingsley-Hughes over at ZDNet benchmarks the new Firefox 3.5 version. Here’s what he had to say:

I expected Firefox 3.5 to be fast, but I didn’t expect it to beat Google Chrome, and I was right. It’s odd to think that it’s been nearly a year since the last major Firefox upgrade, but in that time the browser faces stiff competition from both Google Chrome and Apple’s Safari.

A new post on the Chromium blog explains a bit about how sandboxing is achieved on Mac OS X. Jeremy Moskovich, Software Engineer, concludes with:

As we continue the porting efforts for Chromium on the Mac, it’s very satisfying to see the puzzle pieces fit into place alongside the native system APIs. Mark Larson, Google Chrome Program Manager announced Google Chrome 2.0.172.33. This release fixes Buffer overflow processing HTTP responses.

Google chrome is slowly and gradually making its place in the browser market and is being like by more and more people daily. Firefox is still a superior browser that others as its has lots of Plugins, extensions and themes. So in order to come in competition with Firefox, chrome is also coming up with lots of Plugins, Extensions and Themes. Lets look at some of these useful chrome add ons. Read more

Chrome is still in development for the mac but you can test drive a developer release of the browser.
